Design Your Own Flag with Flag Designer

Every flag tells a story - and this 4th of July, it's your turn to tell yours! Roylco's Flag Designer comes with 24 pre-cut sturdy cardstock flags featuring a glossy and matte side. Each one is a blank canvas that is eagerly waiting for paint, markers, and collage materials. Kids can recreate the Stars and Stripes, reimagine it with their own twist, or design something entirely unique. The possibilities are endless - simply put out the materials and let the kids imaginations run wild!

Crafting Tip: The glossy side is best for gluing, but the matte side is best for drawing & coloring!

Watercolor Fireworks Featuring Color Diffusing Paper

If there's one product you absolutely need for this year's 4th of July celebration (...and maybe every day?), it's Roylco's Color Diffusing Paper. This is not your average craft paper -- watercolors bleed and bloom across the surface creating beautiful vibrant designs in the most satisfying way possible. You can even just scribble on the paper with washable markers and add water to see the same effect! I'm demoing 2 different techniques to try below so there's something for every age and skill level at the table.

Crafting Tip: You can use watercolor paint or washable markers for this project! For the most vibrant and eye-catching results, we recommend using our PlusWater Paint. Offered in six beautiful colors, you can purchase them in a variety pack, 6-pack, or individually.

Technique 1: The White Crayon Reveal

Grab your Color Diffusing Paper and lay it flat on your workspace.

Craft Tip: Put down some newspaper or a plastic tablecloth first. We recommend our No Mess Tray for the perfect portable, easy clean-up station.

Find a firework outline online to print and use as a guide, or freehand your own design. Slide it underneath your Color Diffusing Paper and trace it with a white crayon.

Craft Tip: Press firmly and take your time! The more defined your lines, the more dramatic the reveal!

You should now have a beautiful white firework outline on your paper. It may be hard to see - and that's exactly the point!

Fill small spray bottles with red and blue watercolor paint and let the magic begin! Spritz your paper and watch as the colors bloom and bleed across the surface. The fireworks reveals itself right before your eyes!

Craft Tip: Spraying the paper lightly with water first gives your design a soft, more pastel look. Alternatives, make quick scribbles all over the paper using washable markers and then spray with water for a similar effect.

Let your patriotic masterpiece dry completely before touching up or displaying it. Once dry, your fireworks are ready to be shown off! Hang it up, frame it, or decorate a classroom wall with them!

Technique 2: Freehand Fireworks

Skip the crayon's and go straight to color. Spray or brush red and blue watercolor across the paper and let it dry completely. Once dry, grab a black marker, Sharpie, or pen and draw your fireworks right on top for a bold, stunning finish!

Both techniques work beautifully on the Super Value Color Diffusing Paper as well as the 9 x 12 and 12 x 18  sheet sizes. Pick the one that fits your space and crowd and get to crafting!

Glowing Patriotic Laterns

Ready to light up your 4th of July? Roylco's Stained Glass Lantern is one of those crafts that looks incredibly impressive but is surprisingly simple to make. Paint it, fold it, and watch it glow! These lanterns make for a great 4th of July craft, here's how to make yours!

Flip your lantern face-down and cut your Color Diffusing Paper to fit each window of the lantern. Paint or color them in reds and blues, then tape them securely to the inside panels.

Craft Tip: Mix-and-match different sheets to create an array of red, white, and blue!

Flip it back over and see your lantern come to life! The Color Diffusing Paper glows through the windows in rich, vibrant color. Patriotic, beautiful, and totally show-stopping. Once you love what you see, fold, and secure the tabs to shape your lanterns and get it display-ready!

Craft Tip: Pop the small holes out on the top of the lantern and loop yarn through it to create a hanging lantern!
